Beaumont High Alumni - Roger Grigg Pearce, Class of 75

Roger was a member of the class of 1975 and was well known as he was the Drum Major of the Band. Mr. Pearce, 51, of Charlotte, died on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on March 21, 1957, the son of the late Mary Elliott Allen Pearce and James Dennis Pearce. Mr. Pearce graduated from Lamar University and earned an MBA from Vanderbilt University before joining Republic Bank in Dallas. Mr. Pearce then joined First Union National Bank (now Wachovia) in Tampa, before moving to Charlotte. He retired from Wachovia in 2007. Most recently, he had been pursuing a teaching degree at UNCC in order to teach high school history. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughters Mary Ellen and Arlie; and brothers Dennis and Robert. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2009 with the Rev. Chip Edens and the Rev. Lisa Saunders officiating. The family will receive friends in the Blue Room following the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Christ Episcopal Church (address above) or Wilderness Inquiry, 808 14th Avenue SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414.
